Debate on Russia
Wednesday 30th November 2005, de Vooruit organised a Russia-debate in cooperation with Mo* Magazine. Speakers were Joris Van Bladel (UGent), Koen Schoors (UGent), Tom Vandeweghe (VRT), Freddy De Pauw (ex-De Standaard). They spoke about the transition and the role of Russia in Europe. Debate on Flemish SMEs
Thursday 24th November 2005, the Rotary Club Oostrozebeke organised a debate on challenges for the Flemish SMEs. Koen Schoors participated in this event. You can download the invitation here, or you can find more information on the website of the Rotary Club Oostrozebeke.
 
Lecture "In welke richting evolueert Rusland?"
The LVSV organised a lecture on 21st November 2005. The full titel was "In welke richting evolueert Rusland, en welke houding moet de Europese Unie hiertegenover aannemen? Welke plaats hebben mensenrechten in de Russische republiek? Welke rol speelt Rusland op het internationale toneel, en wat betekent de "oorlog tegen de terreur" voor hen? Speakers were: Prof. Dr. Katlijn Malfliet (KULeuven), Mia Doornaert (De Standaard), prof. dr. Koen Schoors (UGent), Pol De Witte (FOD Buitenlandse zaken).

PLATO Happening "The influence of Europe on Belgian SME's"
On June 3rd 2005, Plato Vlaanderen organised a happening on the influence of Europe on Belgian SME's. Koen Schoors gave a lecture entitled "Enlargement and the consequences: On myth and fact!" You can find the slides here.
 
Public defense PhD thesis by Bruno Merlevede
On May 30th, at 5 pm in "Het Pand", Bruno Merlevede publicly defended his Phd thesis on "The effects of Economic Reform and Foreign Direct Investment on the Domestic Economy and the Domestic Companies of Central and Eastern European Transition Countries". Click here for the invitation.
