By air
The main Belgian airport is Brussels-National Airport, located in Zaventem near Brussels, about 60 km from Ghent. The easiest way to travel from the airport to Ghent is by train. By train
Belgium has an extensive railway system. The majority of the international lines pass through Brussels from which you have good connections to Ghent. Thalys is the high-speed train that takes you to Paris, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, etc. Eurostar is the high-speed train that goes from Brussels to London. How to reach Ghent University by train

- Arriving at Brussels airport:

The airport City Express leaves from within the airport building (floor -2) and takes you to one of the main stations in Brussels (subsequently Noord/Nord, Centraal/Central and Zuid/Midi).
Here you can switch to one of the many intercity trains (IC) to or via “Gent-Sint-Pieters”, Ghent's main railway station (Directions Brugge, Knokke, Blankenberghe, Oostende all stop in Ghent).
Some trains run directly from the airport to “Gent-Sint-Pieters”.

- Arriving by train in Brussels:

Switch to one of the many intercity trains (IC) to or via “Gent-Sint-Pieters”, Ghent's main railway station (Directions Brugge, Knokke, Blankenberghe, Oostende all stop in Ghent).
Ghent is on the crossroads of the international lines "London - Brussel - Köln" and "Paris - Lille - Antwerpen"

When arriving at “Gent-Sint-Pieters” you can continue your itinerary to your hotel or directly to the conference venue “Het Pand”.

Routedescription going from Gent-St-Pieters Station to Hotel Novotel:


- Continue along: Koningin Maria Hendrikaplein (0.1km)

- Continue along: Koningin Elisabethlaan (0.2km)
- Turn left: N414 / Kortrijksesteenweg (0.5km)
- Take Kortrijksepoortstraat (0.5km)
- Take Nederkouter (0.4km)
- Continue along: Koophandelsplein (0.1km)
- Take Veldstraat (0.2km)
- Turn right: Voldersstraat (<0.1km)
- Turn left: Sint-Niklaasstraat (0.2km)
- Turn right: Emile Braunplein (<0.1km)

Walking distance: 35 min.

Taking a tram is another possibility, tram 1, and stop at Gent Korenmarkt.
Hotel Novotel (Goudenleeuwplein) is about 200 meters from Gent Korenmarkt.


Routedescription going from Gent-St-Pieters Station to the conference venue “Het Pand”:

- From the railway station "Gent Sint-Pieters":

Take tram 1, 10, 11 or 12 from the tunnel under the railway station (every 6 minutes), get off at the “Korenmarkt” and cross the river “Leie” via the bridge “Sint-Michielshelling”. Turn around the Sint Michaels church. “Het Pand” is situated next to the church.

- By car

Entering Ghent from the E40 or the E17, follow the parking-route to P7, “Sint Michiels Parking”. This parking is only 50 m away from “Het Pand”.
